ReplyDelete“Nay, if your worship can accomplish that,” answered Master Brackett, “I shall own you for a man of skill indeed! Verily, the woman hath been like a possessed one; and there lacks little, that I should take in hand to drive Satan out of her with stripes.”
This reflects upon that Master Brackett is doubting upon the capabilities. Thus he wants to see the medical skills.
I can't post a blog so I'll just comment here....
ReplyDelete"He was small in stature, with a furrowed visage, which as yet could hardly be termed aged."
This quote reflects on my personality. I am small in stature, but I am not the kind of person that ****s around.
I cannot post on the Analysis page as well, so I must comment on this post.
ReplyDeletechapter 5
"Her prison-door was thrown open, and she came forth into the sunshine, which, falling on all alike, seemed, to her sick and morbid heart, as if meant for no other purpose than to reveal the scarlet letter on her breast."
Relation to me: I feel like that after some accomplishment, one may not feel as satisfied as they are expected to feel.
I can't post in analysis page
ReplyDelete"The penalty thereof is death. But in their great mercy and tenderness of heart, they have doomed Mistress Prynne to stand only a space of three hours on the platform of the pillory, and then and thereafter, for the remainder of her natural life, to wear a mark of shame upon her bosom." pg 60.
The people feel as if this punishment is not enough, however I think that this shame is worse than death. With death, you become free from the ridicule and shame of your past misdeeds, but with the bearing of this A on her shirt, she has to live with this as well as her future generations. The decision of letting Hester live will bear a deep mark within her bloodline, which is far worse than death.
